In this case report we present a 60-year-old male patient with overt midgastrointestinal bleeding of a primary ileal pleomorphic liposarcoma diagnosed by video capsule endoscopy (VCE). Clinical work-up for final diagnosis and the pathological background of this uncommon tumorous entity of the small bowel will be discussed in this paper.

A rare cause of small bowel bleeding

Small bowel perforation: an unusual cause

An 80-year-old lady with abdominal pain had a perforated terminal ileum at laparotomy 2 weeks after treatment for Campylobacter jejuni infective colitis. Histology of the excised bowel revealed transmucosal inflammation but no dysplasia or malignancy. Cases of bowel perforation secondary to Campylobacter are more common in children and HIV-positive individuals.

We report a rare case of small bowel infarction due to superior mesenteric artery occlusion secondary to cardiac tumour embolism. To our knowledge, this has not been previously reported in the literature. This case highlights a rare case and reviews current knowledge on the subject.
